2 Simmer the pears, honey and lemon juice for 5 minutes in a small saucepan. Drain but keep the syrup until later and let cool slightly.
3 Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one by one and mix well.
4 Sift flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and mix with the butter mixture. Finally add the milk. Mix well.
5 Pour the mixture into the cake tin and place pear slices on top. Bake for 50 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
6 Heat the pear syrup slightly and pour over the cake when it comes out of the oven. Serve warm with scoops of cream.
