Biefslaai met ’n Oosterse sous
Ingredients
- Die slaai lyk alte fraai as jy dit in afsonderlike bakkies voorsit sonder om die bestanddele te meng. Maar meng gerus alles as julle baie mense is, dit bly heerlik.
- Oosterse sous
- ’n hand vol van elk basiliekruid-, kruisement- en koljanderblare
- 1 rooi rissie, pitte verwyder en fyn gekap
- 10 ml (2 t) bruinsuiker
- 15 ml (1 e) vissous
- 60 ml (¼ k) grondboontjie-olie
- olyf- of avokadoolie vir braai
- 1 x 500 g-beesfilet
- sout en gemaalde swartpeper
- 2 groot tamaties, dun gesny
- 1 rooi ui, dun gesny
- 1 komkommer, dun gesny
- hand vol roketblare

- Beef salad with an oriental sauce
- The salad looks very nice when you present it in separate bowls without mixing the ingredients. But feel free to mix it, it's still delicious.
- For the Oriental sauce
- A handful each of basil, mint and coriander
- 1 red chili, seeded and finely chopped
- 10 ml (2 tsp) brown sugar
- 15 ml (1 tablespoon) fish sauce
- 60 ml (¼ cup) peanut oil
- For the salad
- olive or avocado oil for frying
- 1 x 500 g beef fillet
- salt and ground black pepper
- 2 large tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
- handful of rocket leaves
Instructions
1 Meng die kruie, rissie, suiker, vissous en die olie goed in ’n voedselverwerker. Hou eenkant tot benodig.
2 Verhit die olie oor hoë hitte en braai die filet vir 8 min. daarin tot goudbruin buite en pienk binne (of langer indien jy dit gaarder verkies). Geur na smaak. Laat die filet vir 5 min. rus voor jy dit in papierdun lappies sny.
3 Sit die vleis voor met die tamaties, ui, komkommer, roketblare en Oosterse sous.
English recipe
1 Mix the herbs, pepper, sugar, fish sauce and oil well in a food processor. Set aside until needed.
2 Heat the oil over high heat and fry the fillets for 8 min until golden brown on the outside and pink inside (or longer if you prefer it more done). Season to taste. Let the fillets rest for 5 min before you cut it into paper-thin slices.
3 Add the meat, tomatoes, onion, cucumber, rocket and oriental sauce.
